Harshdeep's early life
Harshdeep Kaur was born to Savinder Singh in Delhi in 1986. Harshdeep belongs to a family of musicians. Her father was a fine guitarist. She started learning music when she was six years old. She learned Indian classical music from Tejpal Singh, popularly known as the Singh Brothers, and Western classical music from George Pullinkala at Delhi Music Theatre. Later, at the age of twelve, in order to explore the world of music, she joined the Delhi School of Music to learn piano. Harshdeep Kaur completed her graduation from SNDT College of Home Science through Mass Communication and Extension.
Harshdeep's career
Harshdeep was a contestant in MTV Video Gaga Contest at the age of 16. She received the winning title in this show. Harshdeep Kaur won the singing competition Junoon: Kuch Kar Dikhaane Ka on NDTV Imagine in September 2008. She was declared the Sufi Ki Sultana by Amitabh Bachchan who was the chief guest in the Grand Finale. Harshdeep has achieved numerous milestones in her singing career. She has appeared in many reality shows and concerts. Kaur is also the only singer who has appeared on the first four seasons of Coke Studio India.
In her personal life, Harshdeep looks like a simple family person. Her father, Savinder Singh was a known fine guitarist who owns a factory of musical instruments. In 2015, Kaur got married to Mankeet Singh in Mumbai. In an interview with News Daily, the Sufi singer revealed that she is a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan. She also admires AR Rahman and Mithoon Sharma’s work.
