The mythological aspect of the story keeps the audience hook who watch it over and over again. Throughout the years, many actors have essayed the role of Lord Ram in television. Arun Govil
Back in 1986, Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan went on for three years and was a massive success. Arun Govil's portrayal of Lord Ram was so loved that the actor said that people still run up to him and touch his feet seeking blessings. The show reportedly increased the inclination of the Indian audience towards mythological shows.
Siraj Mustafa Khan
In 1997 came the DD-metro show Jai Hanuman. This show portrayed the epic story of Ramayan through lord Hanuman's perspective. The show had over 178 episodes and Siraj's performance as Lord Ram was reportedly loved by the audience. Interestingly, Bollywood star Irrfan Khan also featured in this show as Maharishi Valmiki. Created by Sanjay Khan, the series told the saga of Hanuman over 178 episodes.
Gurmeet Choudhary
Anand Sagar, son of Ramanand Sagar remade Ramayan in 2008 after having worked on the script reportedly for about six months with this team. Gurmeet Choudhary reportedly became a household name after the show. Interestingly, Gurmeet's wife Debina Bonnerjee essayed the role of Sita in the 2008 show. While speaking to a news daily, Gurmeet had revealed that he felt he was destined to play the role as his eyes resemble those of Lord Ram's.
