Saif Ali Khan thinks Sacred Games season 2 was 'bit of a let-down'

Sacred Games is Netflix Original which was launched in two seasons. Saif Ali Khan, in a recent interview, said that the second season was a disappointment.

Saif Ali Khan is currently on a promotional spree for his upcoming movie Laal Kaptaan. He is one of those actors who take up every role as a challenge and justifies it. The first-ever Khan to appear in a web series, Saif Ali Khan as ‘Sartaj’ was widely appreciated in Sacred Games.

Sacred Games is a Netflix original series based on Vikram Chandra's novel of the same name. It is directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikram Motwani. The series came up with its first season and created a big buzz for right from the beginning. The second season of the famous show was premiered on August 15. The season received mixed responses to it. However, a majority said that the first season was comparatively better than the second one.

Sacred Games 2 was a 'bit of a let-down' for Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan, who was one of the lead characters in the series, gave his opinion on the reaction of the audience regarding the second season of Sacred Games.

In an interview with a magazine, Saif Ali Khan expressed his disappointment with the trajectory of the show. He compared the two seasons and quoted that the first season was amazing and the best they could have ever worked upon. He added that the second season was a disappointing one.

He expressed that the first season was outstanding and it got nominated for Emmy. Saif said that the second season was a bit of a let-down and then mocked it, saying now he knows why it’s called Sacred Games as it has a guru on it.

The plot of the second season runs around Nawazuddin’s character Ganesh Gaitonde’s journey and his actions in the events of the day. Saif exclaimed that maybe people didn’t connect with the actual plot of the story. He added that it was obvious that people wanted a down and dirty mafia show about someone like Gaitonde with a little twist in context to his love connections. He also addressed the directors, that the audience expected a better Kashyap-Motwane mix.

However, the show is not over yet. Sacred Games 2 ended with a cliff hanger. The show didn’t reveal whether Sartaj was able to unlock the pattern successfully and disable the nuclear weapon or not. The fate of the city happens to be depending upon the same. Saif further shared his opinion saying that he doesn’t know why but the second season aimlessly focused on something which wasn’t required. He added that it was sad that certain things didn’t land right. They tried to showcase a lot of things in a single season according to him

Also, he mentioned in the interview that Karan Johar had warned him about the curse of the second season. He said that Karan Johar is like a witch oracle as he predicted had the second season.
