Three days after singer Mika Singh and his troupe performed at a wedding of a billionaires' daughter in Pakistan's 'Karachi', the Federation of Western India Cine Employees have banned and boycotted the singer. Releasing a statement on the matter, FWICE has stated that they have 'zero tolerance' for such acts and have condemned it as 'anti-national', 'unpatriotic' and 'ghastly'. "Since the cultural bridge between India and Pakistan is under siege, his performance sent shivers down the spine of every Indian. Mike Singh's unbridled greed for money over the nation, indicates a total non-application of mind and smacks of roughish, malafide and traumatic intentions", read an excerpt from the statement.
MIKA SINGH'S PERFORMANCE AT KARACHI:
As per media reports, Mika Singh and his troupe performed at the wedding of a billionaire's daughter, who was close to former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharaff. Mika reportedly performed on August 8 at the ceremony and his presence in the city came to light when some guests uploaded videos of his performance on social media. Mika Singh reportedly charged USD 150,000 for his performance at the wedding in Karachi. However, his performance raked up controversy after upset fans in India took to social media to express their displeasure over his Karachi visit.
AICWA BANS THE SINGER
AICWA condemned the singer for putting his profession above the national pride after he performed in the neighbouring country, amid the tension between India and Pakistan. AICWA has also asked the Ministry for Information and Broadcasting to intervene in the matter and act legally against the singer."AICWA workers will ensure that no one in INDIA works with Mika Singh and if anyone does, they will face legal consequences in the court of law," the statement read.
PRIOR CONTROVERSIES:
The 'Aankh Marey' singer was picked up by the Dubai police a few months back from Bur Dubai at 3:00 AM after a 17-year-old Brazilian model accused him of sexual misconduct.
