After GodFather, Chiranjeevi to star in the remake of another Mohanlal film

The Mohanlal starrer Malayalam film Bro Daddy is reportedly all set for a Telugu remake. The comedy family entertainer will feature megastar Chiranjeevi with Sharwanand playing the parallel lead. The Telugu remake will also feature a major distinction from the original in terms of the relationship between the two male leads.

• Before Bro Daddy, another Mohanlal starrer -- Lucifer, also received a Telugu remake titled Godfather. 
• Chiranjeevi's daughter Sushmita Konidela will be producing the remake. 
• The original film had been directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran who also starred in the film. 

Bro Daddy gets a Telugu remake

Bro Daddy's original story dealt with a father-son duo, played by Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, whose wives get pregnant at the same time. While Chiranjeevi will be seen stepping in to Mohanlal's role, Sharwanand will be playing the character essayed by Sukumaran. The film is all set to be directed by Kalyan Krishna, known for previously directing Bhangarraju.

Trisha Krishnan has been roped in to star opposite Chiranjeevi while Sri Leela has been paired with Sharwanand. The roles in the Malayalam original had been essayed by Meena and Kalyani Priyadarshan. What's more, while Bro Daddy originally featured Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran as a father-son duo, Chiranjeevi and Sharwanand will be playing brothers to each other in the Telugu remake. Chiranjeevi's daughter Sushmita Konidela is all set to produce the film. 

This is not the first Mohanlal-Chiranjeevi cross-connection

Bro Daddy is not the first time a Mohanlal role will be reinterpreted by Chiranjeevi. Mohanlal's 2019 political action thriller Lucifer had also received a Telugu remake. Lucifer also starred Prithviraj Sukumaran and Tovino Thomas among others. The Telugu film, titled Godfather, starred Chiranjeevi in Mohanlal's role. The 2022 release also notably starred Nayanthara.
