This was Sanjay Dutt's debut film which was directed by his father Sunil Dutt. Revving and swaying his bike singing 'Doston Ko Salaam', this song from Rocky continues to be popular along with 'Aa Dekhe Zara', which has had many reprised versions over the years. The movie also stars Tina Munim opposite Dutt, this was the 10th highest grosser of 1981. The movie was released a few days after Sanju lost his mother Nargis Dutt to cancer and the actor's recent biopic starring Ranbir Kapoor had a scene in which it showed a seat was left vacant beside his father as a tribute to his mother.

Vaastav has been one of Dutt's best movies so far, helmed by Mahesh Manjrekar the film shows the dark side of Mumbai and is as realistic as it can be. Sanjay plays the role of Raghu, whose interest lies more in business and less in education. After a flunking in school multiple times, Raghu now has a pav bhaji stall at Chowpatty, and one fateful event turns his life around, he's now a big name in the city. Raghu soon becomes a gangster, this intriguing plot has intrigued many.
4. Munna Bhai M.B.B.S (2003)

This is the film that made both Munna Bhai and Circuit popular among masses, the humor, the dialogues are still relatable and have recall value that is beyond compare. The film helmed by Rajkumar Hirani shows Dutt as a medical student, who is keen on spreading laughter, cheer and shows very little interest in education, yet tops every exam. Bhoomi helmed by Omung Kumar was Sanjay Dutt's comeback of sorts, the film also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, who plays his daughter. The movie is based on the father-daughter relationship and has too many twists and turns. The movie tells the story of a father, who to avenge the rape of his daughter knocks the doors of courts and is ultimately turned down. The father-daughter duo then takes the law into their hands and fight the evils of the society. The movie didn't perform at the box office, but Dutt's acting was appreciated by critics.
