Ajay Devgn: Films of the actor that did not do well at the box office

Ajay Devgn has acted in a number of Bollywood films. Some worked well and some didn't at the box office. Here is a list of five films of the actor that failed.

Ajay Devgn is one of the most popular actors of Bollywood. The actor has worked in more than hundred films. He is known for winning the National Award twice (2000 and 2003) and the Padma Shri in the year 2016. His performances in films such as The Legend of Bhagat Singh and Drishyam have made him one of the sought-after actors today in the industry.

However, Devgn has delivered a few flop films in his acting career, making audiences surprised at times with his choice of scripts.

Films of Ajay Devgn that did not do well

1.       Taarzan- The Wonder Car (2004)

This August 6, 2004 release did not do very well at the box office despite some sections of the audience such as children loving the film. According to Box Office India, it only made around Rs 6.20 crore, while its budget was more than double that amount. The film was directed by Abbas-Mustan. 

2.       Himmatwala (2013)

Himmatwala starred the South Indian actor Tamannaah Bhatia alongside Ajay Devgn. The film was expected to be a remake of 1983 Jeetendra-Sridevi film with the same title. However, the masala film did not do quite well at the box office. It was also widely criticized by film critics. It was given an IMDb rating of 1.7 out of 10.

3.       Action Jackson (2014)

The film starred actors like Sonakshi Sinha and Yami Gautam opposite Ajay Devgn. The film was directed by the renowned choreographer Prabhu Deva. The film revolved around the life of a hitman from Bangkok, who seeks the help of a goon from Mumbai, who is his look-alike. The film failed at the box office and according to Box Office India, it suffered a whopping loss of Rs. 20 crore!

5.       Baadshaho (2017)

This film put the much-loved Emraan Hashmi- Ajay Devgn duo back on the big screen. It also starred actors like Ileana D’Cruz, Esha Gupta and Vidyut Jammwal in significant roles. The film was directed by Milan Luthria and was written by Rajat Arora. The plot of the film revolved around a bodyguard who sets out on a mission. The film only made around 84 crores at the box office. The film had released alongside the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Shub Mangal Saavdhan.
