Ajay Devgn to play gangster Karim Lala in SLB’s next?

There is huge buzz surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next, Gangubai Kathiawadi. Alia Bhatt plays the titular role in the film. Gangubai Kathiawadi is a biographical film about Gangubai Kothewali, a sex worker who turned into an underworld don.

Will Ajay Devgn star in Gangubai Kathiawadi?

There have been reports that suggest that Ajay Devgn will also be a part of SLB’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. Ajay’s role will reportedly be a serious one. According to reports. Ajay’s character will be very passionate and memorable for the audience.

Reportedly, Ajay Devgn will be playing the role of a gangster with a golden heart. He will teach Gangubai the trade, and then later fall in love with her. There have also been rumours that say Ajay will only be making a special appearance in the film rather than having a full-fledged role.

Another report suggested that Ajay Devgn will be playing the role of the dreaded gangster, Karim Lala. He was one of the ruling mafia dons in Mumbai during the 1960s and 1970s. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ajay Devgn go way back to 1999, when they first collaborated for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

Alia Bhatt will be playing the titular role in the film. The news was announced on social media on October 16, 2019, on SLB’s official production house page. The movie is a biographical film about the ‘Madam of Kamathipura’, Gangubai Kothewali. According to the book Queens of Mumbai, Gangubai is considered to be the matriarch of Kamathipura in Mumbai. She was a brothel owner who also had connections with the underworld. Many walls in Kamathipura still have her pictures hung up.

Gangubai Kothewali is also known for the efforts that she took to improve the conditions in Kamathipura. There have been rumours that she had even met with Jawahar Lal Nehru and spoke to him about the problems of the sex workers. Gangubai is one of the most remembered women in the history of Mumbai. The film is slated to release on Eid 2020.
