Akshay Kumar has been a part of the film fraternity for more than two decades now. The Khiladi of Bollywood has been known for his action films because he has had a knack for performing his own stunts as he is a trained martial artist. However, in contemporary times, Akshay has been focusing on patriotic films and films that raise social awareness. From Toilet: Ek Prem Katha to Padman, Akshay never shies away from taking up challenging roles.

Akshay, in recent times, has mostly been a part of movies that primarily focus on societal issues. In an interview with entertainment media, when asked about having a specific reason for choosing such movies that talk about societal problems, Akshay responded saying that he feels that movies are a type of communication that is consumed by the majority of people not only in India but also internationally. The Mission Mangal actor further added that films are the way of reaching out to the audiences as well as to educate them. He reportedly feels that being an influencer is of no use if one cannot use their platform to improve the country and his movies are his way of giving back to society.
Kumar has also been a part of several patriotic movies like Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, Gold, Mission Mangal, etc. However, Akshay has never isolated himself from entertainment and drama oriented movies. Akshay’s upcoming film is a comedy film, Housefull 4, which is also one of the most anticipated films of the year. The film's theme is based on reincarnation and has a huge star cast comprising of Kriti Sanon, Bobby Deol, Rana Daggubati, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Riteish Deshmukh, Pooja Hegde and many more.
