Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff headlined the recent action flick Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The movie is directed by Ali Abbas Zaffar and was backed by Vashu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment. Despite a stellar cast and big budget, the film failed to impress the audience at the box office. In a new interview, the producer opens up about the same.

Vashu Bhagnani recalls Akshay Kumar calling him after BMCM flopped

In an interview with ANI, Vashu Bhagnani recalled the time when Bade Miyan Chote Miyan did not perform as anticipated at the box office. The producer getting calls from prominent personalities in the industry. He mentioned that he is in touch with the film’s director and the lead actor Akshay Kumar after the film’s theatrical release.

As per Pinkvilla, the producer quoted Akshay Kumar telling him, “Jo bhi hoga mil baant ke karenge (Whatever will be the losses, we'll share).” He added that Akshay consoled him and asked him to not worry about the box office result of the film. He mentioned, “Akshay was the first person to call me and say not to worry, and let him know if there was anything to do. He lent his unconditional support. I also got calls from Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, and also my old friend David Dhawan. I am really moved by everyone, they are people who stick by you.” This comes at a time when several crew members working on the film have alleged the production house of not paying them their dues.

Vashu Bhagnani issues clarification on the non-payment of dues matter

There were reports that the Juhu-based office premises of Pooja Entertainment were sold to settle a debt of Rs 250 crore. The production house was also accused of non-payment of dues and laying off the majority of its staff. Addressing the reports, Vashu Bhagnani in a media statement said, "The building (office space) that people are talking about hasn’t been sold to anyone, it belongs to me even now. We are only redeveloping it into a tower that will house luxury homes. This was planned 1.5 years ago. I was waiting for 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' to release after which we wanted to start the redevelopment."

The producer, who has begun production on a big-scale animation series, also dismissed reports of laying off his staff.  "We've had the same team working with us for 10 years, we haven’t asked anyone to leave," added Vashu Bhagnani, known for backing 1990s and 2000s hits such as Coolie No 1, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, and Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai.
