Akshay Kumar pays 'Kesari' tribute to Bravehearts on Saragarhi Day

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar who won the hearts of the audience with his remarkable performance in patriotic drama Kesari, paid tribute to the Bravehearts of the 36th Sikh Regiment, as the country celebrated 'Saragarhi Day' on Thursday, September 12. The actor took to social media and shared a monochrome still from his film on Twitter and said that sacrifice which will forever be etched in the pages of history.

Kesari
Akshay Kumar's 'Kesari' which released on March 21, this year, is based on the Battle of Saragarhi fought between the British Indian army's Sikh Regiment comprising of 21 soldiers and 10,000 Afghan tribesmen in 1897. Apart from Akshay, the film also features Parineeti Chopra, Mir Sarwar, Vansh Bhardwaj, and Ashwath Bhatt among others in pivotal roles. Based on the legend of the Battle of Saragarhi of 1897, is co-written by Girish Kohli and Anurag Singh, the film has been produced by Johar’s Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films and Azure Entertainment.
Saragarhi Day
The Sikh Regiment, led by Havildar Ishar Singh, fought till their last breath spotting the invaders to enter into the province. This achievement is considered by some military historians as one of history's greatest last stands and the 4th battalion of the Sikh Regiment of Indian Army commemorates the battle every year on 12 September as Saragarhi Day.
What's next for Akshay Kumar
On the professional front, Akshay Kumar has a number of films in the pipeline for release. He will be starring in the upcoming venture, 'Housefull 4', 'Good News', 'Laxmi Bomb' and Rohit Shetty's 'Sooriyavanshi'. Moreover, on the occasion of his birthday, on September 9, Akshay Kumar has confirmed that he will be donning the warrior hat for his next historical drama titled 'Prithviraj'. The historical drama reportedly chronicles the First Battle Of Tarain led by emperor Prithiviraj Chauhan who is considered one of the bravest rulers of the Chahamana dynasty.
The film is expected to go on floors by November this year and will be shot in Mumbai and Rajasthan. The actor unveiled the teaser and first look of the film and informed that the period film directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi will release on Diwali 2020.
