Alia Bhatt talks about her Hollywood debut Heart of Stone: Acting in English felt strange

After enjoying the success of her recent Bollywood release, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Alia Bhatt is now gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Heart of Stone. The project will mark her debut in the Hollywood industry.  She recently opened up about the challenges she faced while filming the movie.

Alia Bhatt on biggest challenge she faced during shoot

In a recent interview with Toronto Sun, Alia Bhatt was asked about the biggest challenge she faced while working on her first Hollywood film. The actress revealed that while the filmmaking process is similar worldwide, she initially found it challenging to deliver her lines in English. Despite being fluent in the language, she said that acting in English on day one felt somewhat strange to her due to her Hindi-speaking background.

Alia shared that she quickly adapted and felt more comfortable with the English dialogues as the filming progressed. She shared that apart from the initial awkwardness on the first day, she realized that the overall process of filmmaking is quite similar and familiar. 

"I have to say on day one, because I’m so used to speaking in Hindi, suddenly on day one speaking in English was weird. Even though I speak in English most of the time, but acting in English suddenly felt a bit strange," she said.

A remarkable aspect of Alia Bhatt's s journey in Heart of Stone is that she filmed her scenes while being pregnant with her baby, Raha Bhatt Kapoor. During Netflix's Tudum event in Brazil, the actress was questioned about her limited screen time in the film's trailer. She responded, saying that such aspects are part of storytelling and the trailer aims to give viewers a sense of the film's narrative. Alia added that what matters most is how the story unfolds and leads the audience to the final cinematic experience.
