Amid Trolling, Shatrughan Sinha Calls Sonakshi Sinha-Zaheer’s Marriage ‘Wedding Of The Century’

Sonakshi Sinha recently tied the knot with long-time boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal. The actress’ nuptials took place in Mumbai on June 23. Several reports claimed that her father and veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha was not happy with their union, but now the actor has taken a strong stand in the matter. The actor-turned-politician took to his social media account to share unseen glimpses of the festivities.

On June 26, days after the wedding of Sonakshi Sinha with Zaheer Iqbal, Shatrughan Sinha took to his X account to share unseen glimpses from the ceremony. The veteran actor also penned a note of gratitude along with the photos. He shared a video of Sonakshi Sinha walking down the aisle. 

The actor shared the glimpses with the note, “With an attitude of gratitude we would like to thank everyone for celebrating with us on our special day seems to be the 'wedding of the century' with your warmth, love, congratulatory messages for our darling daughter #SonakshiSinha with #ZaheerIqbal as they start a new chapter in their beautiful journey of their lives.” The actor seemingly took a dig at social media users who were trolling the newlyweds for having an inter-faith wedding. 

Sonakshi Sinha shares first photos from the reception ceremony 

On June 25, Sonakshi Sinha shared some snaps from their wedding reception, expressing gratitude for the love, laughter, and support from their close ones, calling it a divine intervention. The couple tied the knot on June 23 in a civil ceremony at the bride's new apartment, 81 Aureate, which is located near the Rang Sharda Auditorium in Bandra West, Mumbai.

The reception was held the same day at Bastian, a restaurant on Linking Road, Mumbai, known for its Asian-inspired modernist cuisine. Taking it to Instagram, Sonakshi shared love-filled pictures from their reception night with Zaheer. In the snaps, the Lootera actress is seen wearing a custom red 'chand boota' brocade Raw Mango sari. For makeup, she opted for nude pink lips, winged eyeliner, a contoured face, and a red bindi. Her hair was tied in a neat bun adorned with a 'gajra'. The actress accessorised the outfit with a green choker necklace, matching 'chandbaalis', and bangles, along with minimal red mehndi on her hands. The groom, Zaheer, looked happy in an all-white sherwani. The snaps show the couple giving each other forehead kisses. Sonakshi captioned the post: “Whattttt a day!!!! The love, the laughter, the togetherness, the excitement, the warmth, the support from every one of our friends, families and teams… it was like the universe came together for two people in love to give them exactly what they’ve always hoped, wished and prayed for. If this is not divine intervention… we don't know what is. We are both truly blessed to have each other and so much love protecting us.” The photo come after the couple received backlash for their inter-religious union. The actress seemingly switched off the comment section of her post due to the same.
