Both Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor have done 19 films in their respective careers. The two actors have starred in just one film together- the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju. The 2018 biographical film was directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and was based on the life of Bollywood actor, Sanjay Dutt. The film was the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2018 and also ranks as the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
Debut year of the two actors
Sonam Kapoor was working as an assistant director to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his 2005 Rani Mukerji-Amitabh Bachchan film, Black, along with actor Ranbir Kapoor. Later, in 2007, Sanjay Leela Bhansali launched Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor in the romantic drama, Saawariya. The film marked Sonam's debut in Bollywood films.
Anushka Sharma began her career as a model. Initially, she wanted to pursue a career in journalism. After she began her career as a model, Anushka also auditioned for film roles. She bagged the lead actor's role in the 2008 romantic drama, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, which was written, produced and directed by Aditya Chopra. The film was her big Bollywood debut film.
Highest and Lowest-grossing films
Anushka and Sonam's highest-grossing film is Sanju. Both of them starred in the film but did not share screen space together. Anushka's lowest-grossing film is the 2015 period drama, Bombay Velvet, which was directed by Anurag Kashyap and featured Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. The film grossed just ₹ 43.1 crores at the box-office against a budget of ₹ 120 crores.
Sonam Kapoor's lowest-grossing film is her latest release, The Zoya Factor. The film is a light adaptation of Anuja Chauhan's 2008 novel of the same name and featured Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role opposite Sonam. The film released on September 20, 2019, and was a box-office disaster, with a final gross of just ₹9.30 crores.
