On November 19, before Rahman and Saira Banu made their divorce public in a joint statement issued by the latter's lawyer Vandana Shah, Dey confirmed her split from her musician husband Mark Hartsuch in an Instagram post. Dey also turned off comments for the post. Was their divorce announcement a mere coincidence or has it anything to do with Rahman? Rumours are afloat on social media with many wondering what's going on between the two couples.

When asked about the ongoing link-up speculation on the internet between AR Rahman and bassist Mohini Dey and whether it is the reason behind their respective divorces, Vandana Shah said, "Not at all. There is no link between the two. Saira and Rahman have taken this decision on their own. There is no link between the two news at all."
Who is Mohini Dey?
Mohini Dey is a music prodigy who has worked with Rahman since 2017 when she first collaborated with him for Coke Studio season 3. Dey belongs to a family of musicians and her dad Sujoy Dey is a renowned session musician. She began play bass guitar professionally at the age of 11. However, she was discovered by Rahman when she turned 17. Post Coke Studio 3, their collaborations continued. Dey has performed with Rahman in over 40 shows worldwide. She released her self-titled debut album in August 2023.
Dey has also collaborated with acclaimed musicians like Zakir Hussain, Ranjit Barot, Steve Vai and Guthrie Govan.
