Ayushmann Khurrana's singing career started with Pani da Rang from Vicky Donor. He also credits the film Vicky Donor for completely changing his career and paving the way for numerous possibilities. Ayushmann mentioned in an interview with a leading daily that he has always wanted to be an actor-singer. Ayushmann told IANS that "I will sing songs which are in my zone. Love ballads and soft romantic songs are my zones. I can't do a qawwali or a heavily-classical song." The actor-singer also mentions that he has no qualms to pass over the mic to other singers as he believes that it's always good to have your songs voiced by a good singer.

Ayushmann said in an interview with a leading daily that it shouldn’t be like if he is in a film, he has to sing a song. This is because in any film, the topmost priority is the character. Ayushmann mentions that he always takes time to cut at least one single a year along with touring with his band. He is famous for these songs (singles + movies) which were well appreciated by his fans including Chan Kitthan, Yahi hoon main, Hareyaa, Nazm Nazm, Ik Mulaqaat Unplugged, Saadi Gali Aaja Unplugged, Ik Vaari, Naina da Kya Kasoor, and Mitti di Khushboo.

The Badhai Ho actor spoke about his singing career in an interview stating that he used to sing as a kid with his friends. But after he received awards for Pani da Rang for his singing, he became more conscious of his singing and rehearsed with a trainer. He also started performing at gigs and concerts. He mentioned that music has always been in his genes.

On the career front, he also has three upcoming projects lined up called Bala, Gulabo Sitabo with his Vicky Donor director Shoojit Sircar, and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. Ayushmann recently released the trailer of Bala on his Instagram handle. Recently, his wife, Tahira Kashyap, also recovered from pre-invasive breast cancer. In recent news, India's 'National Jiju' as fans fondly call Nick Jonas, grooved to the Ayushmann Khurrana's song Morni Banke right before his concert in San Francisco.
