Ayushmann Khurrana is gearing up for the release of his next film, Bala. The film also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam in lead roles. Bala is being directed by Stree director Amar Kaushik. It is slated to hit the theatres on November 7, 2019. Bala deals with the story of premature balding among young people.
Bala's take on the societal stigma related to beauty standards
Bala showcases the problem of premature balding which is one of the lesser talked about issues in India. The issue is faced by a majority of people, especially by younger people. The trailer showed us how Ayushmann is in a desperate need to grow his hair back, resorts to various internet hacks which prove to be futile. Various studies have reported on how balding is a pressing issue especially amongst people in their 20s.
Bhumi Pednekar recently shared a post on her Instagram page about her look in the film. She was seen tossing away fairness products. Bhumi is also seen sporting dusky-skinned make-up. Many netizens have questioned the painted face and have expressed their dissent on social media asking why did the makers not go for a dusky-skinned actor instead.
About the film
The trailer of Bala was released on October 7, 2019. The film surely looks like a hilarious riot. In the trailer, we can see Bala (Ayushmann) facing the mockery of people due to his condition. When all his hacks to grow his hair back fails, he gets a wig. His new look helps him in wooing and marrying Yami Gautam.
Bala will be Ayushmann Khurrana’s third film this year. His previous two releases this year, Article 15 and Dream Girl were a smashing hit at the box office. Ayushmann is known to prove that socially relevant films can work at the box office too. It is yet to be seen whether Bala will strike the right chord with the audience or no.
