Bala trailer: Ayushmann Khurrana's hair woes promise rib-tickling ride
Ayushmann Khurrana's hair woes in 'Bala' promise a rib-tickling ride courtesy hilarious situations. The film also stars Yami Gautam and Bhumi Pednekar.
Ayushmann Khurrana continues to show that he is not the ‘perfect’ Bollywood hero, and in fact, is excelling purely out of being associated with ‘uncomfortable’ topics. A journey that started with playing a sperm donor, the actor then suffered from erectile dysfunction in one movie, and played a man seducing callers with a female voice in another. This time, he has a flaw again, hair loss, but once again, he is doing what he is known to do best, entertain with his witty one-liners, in Bala.
The trailer of Bala was unveiled on Thursday and it promises another laugh riot. Ayushmann plays a balding man and also joins hands once again with his lead actresses of two of his well-known films, Vicky Donor and Shubh Mangal Savdhaan, Yami Gautam and Bhumi Pednekar. His character was named ‘Bala’ for his flowy hair, but then fate had different plans for him. Be it being mocked by people, being dumped by girlfriend or ‘scaring’ people, he faces it all. He tries all possible means to resolve it, including applying buffalo’s dung, but nothing works. After some hilarious situations over his receding hairline, he finally gets a wig. His new thick crop helps him in wooing Yami Gautam and marrying her. But that is only a temporary solution and he decides to have a hair transplant.
The dialogues once again seem to be USP of this one, like Ayushmann telling Yami that he was like Ekta Kapoor’s serial, that won’t end ever. There are a lot of explicit dialogues as well, and it might have got cleared for YouTube, but it’d be interesting to see if the makers will be asked to cut it for U/A certification.
Sharing the trailer on Twitter, Ayushmann wrote, “Baal kaisa hai janaab ka? Trailer dekho aur batao, kya khayaal hai aapka!”
Bala has been directed by Stree fame Amar Kaushik. The movie has been produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films. The movie is gearing up for release on November 7.
Ayushmann on a roll
Bala is Ayushmann’s third film this year. The actor started the year with Article 15, which was unanimously lauded by the critics. The movie, directed by Anubhav Sinha, highlighted the caste equations in UP, and was a success at the box office, earning over Rs 60 crore.
He then featured in Dream Girl, which is set to be the biggest hit of his career. The movie is inching its way to the Rs 150-crore club.
