Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Stars Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit End Box Office Slump With ₹300 Crore Grosser

Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit have managed to score their biggest box office grosser with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The two Manjulikas have been able to weave their magic, attracting audiences to the cinema halls to watch their latest offering. The over ₹320 crore worldwide collection of the horror comedy comes as a respite to the two veteran actresses, who have struggled to score a theatrical hit in a long time.

Vidya and Madhuri: A bounce back from their OTT phase

Vidya Balan, who has been part of box office hits like Mission Mangal, Kahaani and The Dirty Picture to name a few, has been searching for a box office comeback post-pandemic. While her movies received critical acclaim, many of them debuted directly on OTT (Shakuntala Devi, Sherni, Jalsa). Her last big screen release was Do Aur Do Pyaar, which emerged as one of the lowest-grossing films this year, collecting less than ₹5 crore at the domestic box office. Her last theatrical hit was the multi-starrer Mission Mangal (2019), which was led by Akshay Kumar .

The same has been the case with Madhuri. Her last hit was Total Dhamaal in 2019. In 2022, Maja Ma released on OTT and got good reviews. The same year also saw her making her web series debut with The Fame Game, which too was well-received. Six years later, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has emerged as a hit and her highest-grossing film, beating Total Dhamaal.  

Ami Je Tomar 3.0 weaves magic

While both Vidya and Madhuri have scored their biggest hits in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, their respective roles as Manjulikas have also praised. The two actresses feature in major portions of the movie in the second half and do the heavy lifting. Their dance-off on Shreya Ghoshal's iconic track Ami Je Tomar 3.0 has become one of the highlights of the horror comedy.
