Bhumi Pednekar has an answer to all those who trolled her for her roles in the movies Saand Ki Aankh and Bala. In an interview with Firstpost, the actor talked about how she had attracted critics and opinions through her roles in the two movies. She also talked about how she handles such kinds of backlash from the audience.

Bhumi says no to trolls:

Bhumi was trolled for ageism in Saand Ki Aankh while questions were raised at her dusky look for the movie Bala. When asked about how she handles the unwanted trolling, Bhumi shared that she has realised that appreciation and criticism will always go hand in hand. She talked about how everyone should have an opinion. Pednekar added that while she respects many such opinions that also make her rethink about herself, she called some of it "crap". She then added that she flushes these unwanted opinions down the toilet.

Bhumi shared that she is an actor and thus it is required of her to do different kinds of roles. With this logic, she continued, she should have not done Dum Laga Ke Haisha, for which she gained 30 kilograms. Wrapping up this conversation, Bhumi said that she always asks people to go see her work and comment on it rather than on her choice of films.

Pednekar claimed that she will continue to do such kind of movies. The Shubh Mangal Savdhaan actor also claimed that it is a person's physical appearance is not instrumental to the casting in a film. So it is not necessary for a lean person to play a lean character, and similarly, an obese person to play an obese character.

Bhumi also talked about how her character Latika in Bala resonated with her as she is also trying to break the mould through her work. Pednekar shared that Bala isn't about just balding, rather, it tries to battle all kinds of stereotypes in society. She also talked about how she, along with her colleagues Alia Bhatt and Taapsee Pannu, is doing a film where women are celebrated. Bhumi has played many small-town girl characters, which she claims to be challenging, but she enjoys them nonetheless. Her experience with rural and small towns in India has humbled her as a person, Pednekar added.
