Bigil is Tamil for the word 'whistle'. The film based on the trailers appears to belong to the sports-action genre. Vijay stars as the coach of the woman's football team and the film narrates their tentative journey to success. Bigil also features popular actor Nayanthara in the lead role, opposite Vijay. And an ensemble cast including Jackie Shroff, Vivek, Kathir, Yogi Babu, Robo Shankar, Reba Monica John, Indhuja, Varsha Bollamma and Gayathri Reddy are all expected to play pivotal roles in Bigil.
Bigil will clash with Kaithi on October 25 at the box-office
The film is co-written and directed by Atlee Kumar. This film marks the writer-director Atlee's third collaboration with Vijay. Their previous ventures, Mersal (2017) and Theri (2014), were hugely successful at the box-office according to media reports. AR Rahman has composed the music of the film while AGS Entertainment has bankrolled the project. Notably, based on media reports, this film is also touted to be one of Vijay's and AGS Entertainment's most expensive projects yet.
At the box-office, the film will clash with Tamil actor Karthi's new film, Kaithi. While Bigil is a sports film, Kaithi is touted as an action-thriller. Fans are eagerly awaiting the releases of the big-budget entertainers. In fact, the advance bookings of Bigil attracted a lot of sales and high rates. Many theatres in Tamil Nadu have stated that the film is already sold out for the first few days of its release.
