Film Industries across the world: Bollywood, Hollywood and Tollywood

The film industry, also known as the motion picture industry, consists of various sections. These sections in filmmaking include production companies, studios, screenwriting, actors, crews, and film directors. Hollywood, which is the cinema of the United States, has dominated the film industry worldwide. It has a major influence on several other cinemas of their respective countries. Let’s look at some of the major cinemas worldwide.

Hollywood

Hollywood is the symbol of the entertainment business. Hollywood is a neighbourhood in the central region of Los Angeles, California and most notably, the home of the U.S. film industry. Hollywood movies often have a global appeal due to use of the English language. Hollywood is also known for pioneering visual effects and CGI. They are now one of the industries who have perfected their visual effects and special effects altogether. 

Bollywood

Bollywood is based in Mumbai as the central location and produces Hindi language films. Bollywood is the largest film producer in India. Bollywood produced 252 films out of 1969 films in India in 2014. Bollywood has also become a greater part of the Indian film industry as it has the highest occupancy of films compared to any other cinema. The industry generates a lot of revenue with the sales of Hindi language film worldwide. Bollywood actors have also gained much recognition from this.

Lollywood

Lollywood is the Pakistani-based film industry. It derived its name from Hollywood. It has some of its major production centres in Mumbai and Kolkata. Lollywood is currently gaining recognition across the world with some of its films. Lollywood is currently stepping up to the ranks of Hollywood and Bollywood.

Tollywood

Tollywood is the Telugu-language film industry based in Telangana and Andra Pradesh. It is a segment of Indian cinema. Telugu cinema or Tollywood is based in Film Nagar, a neighbourhood of Hyderabad, India. There are some major artists in Tollywood. These include Allu Arjun, Chiranjeevi, and Akkineni Nagarjuna.
