Box Office Prediction: Ulajh, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha Likely To Be 2024's Worst Bollywood Openers

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Ulajh will hit the big screens on August 2. The advance booking of the two Bollywood films commenced on August 1. The buzz around the new releases is quite low. Both movies have not been able to stoke the curiosity of the moviegoers and as per trade experts, will have to rely on good word-of-mouth for a successful theatrical run. They are also likely to emerge as two of the worst openers of Bollywood in 2024.

Kalki 2898 AD clash avoided, but will Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha pass the box office test?

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha will mark Ajay Devgn's third release this year. The actor has previously featured in the supernatural horror film Shaitaan which did well at the box office. However, his subsequent release, Maidaan, failed to impress the audience as the film minted only ₹53.03 crore in India, as per Sacnilk, despite releasing on Eid.

Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is expected to witness an underwhelming start. The film has sold a little over 17,000 tickets amounting to ₹24.69 lakh, as per Sacnilk. Trade expert Sumit Kadel exclusively told Republic Digital that the Ajay Devgn ad Tabu starrer is eyeing an opening in the range of ₹2-3 crore.

"Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha will open in the vicinity of ₹2-3 cr nett. Film's advance booking is quite low and there’s lack of interest amongst the audience for this film due to below average trailer and songs."

For the unversed, the Neeraj Pandey directorial was earlier slated to be released on July 5 but was pushed due to Kalki 2898 AD release a week before on June 27. Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha also stars  Jimmy Sheirgill, Shantanu Maheshwari and Saiee Manjrekar. However, seeing the advanced booking projections of the films, it seems like even the new release date would not do much to tip the scales in its favour.

Janhvi Kapoor starrer Ulajh looking at a dismal start at box office

Ulajh will also hit the big screens on the same day as Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha. While both films are clashing at the box office, the projection of the Janhvi starrer remains low. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh told Republic Digital, “Both films have not taken a great start at the box office. The advance booking is very poor. The buzz is very low for both films. The opening is not going to be good. It's going to be a dull Friday unless the films pick up in current bookings.”  

As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, Ulajh has sold less than 750 tickets across the top 3 national chains. The film also features Roshan Mathew, Adil Hussain, Rajesh Tailang, Meiyang Chang, Rajendra Gupta and Jitendra Joshi.
