Coldplay India Concert Price Row: The band's Mumbai concert tickets sold out within minutes of going live at noon. This led to fans flocking to third-party apps like Viagogo and Gigsberg. However, the ticketing booking app BookMyShow has issued a stern warning for users not to book tickets using illegal apps and has reportedly, even filed a police complaint against the practice of reselling.

BookMyShow warns fans against reselling sites

In response to the growing scalping and reselling practices, the ticketing agency BookMyShow, which is the exclusive cooking partner of the concert, has issued a formal statement warning against acquiring such tickets. The statement explicitly mentions that the app does not have any association with apps such as Viagogo and Gigsberg to resell concert tickets. They mentioned that all tickets bought through scalping practices will not be considered valid.

The statement read,  “BookMyShow has no association with any ticket selling/reselling platforms such as Viagogo and Gigsberg or third party individuals to resell of Coldplay's Music of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India.” The statement further warned, “Scalping is strictly condemned and punishable by law in India.”

The platform asserted that they have filed a police complaint against reselling apps. The statement read, “We have filed a complaint with the police authorities and will provide complete support to them in the investigation of this matter.” It concluded, “We urge you not to fall victim to these scams. Any tickets bought from unauthorised sources will be at the risk of the consumer and can turn out to be fake tickets. Beware of such scammers.”

As Coldplay Mumbai tickets sell out, fans flock to reselling apps 

The Coldplay Mumbai concert tickets were made available on BookMyShow at noon on September 22. However, due to a heavy demand, the server of the app was created leaving most people in long digital queues. Despite the long wait and a new show added on popular demand, fans of the band were not able to get their hands on the tickets. This led to a diversion in traffic to reselling apps like Viagogo and Gigsberg.

The reselling apps sold the tickets ten times more than the original amount, a practice known as scalping. Some users pointed out that because bots bought bulk tickets for such sites the actual fans were left without any. As per reports, 1.3 crore people attempted to access BookMyShow on the day of Coldplay ticket sales. The concert will take place in Mumbai on January 18,19 and 21.
