Deepika Padukone: A look at the actor's 12 year Bollywood journey

The beautiful Deepika Padukone is completing 12 years of her Bollywood journey on November 9. The actor has done an array of movies throughout her years. She has done some of the most memorable roles in these films. 

Here is her journey through Bollywood:

The actor started her career in the Indian film industry in the year 2007 with the movie Om Shanti Om. Her next movie was Bachna Ae Haseeno with Ranbir Kapoor which was well-appreciated by the audience. She starred with Ranbir Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Minissha Lamba.

After doing two great hits, Deepika starred in Chandni Chowk to China, which did not fare well at the Box Office. Padukone's next movies were Love Aaj Kal and Karthik Calling Karthik. While Love Aaj Kal went out to be a hit, Karthik Calling Karthik also did not impress the audience. Deepika Padukone then tried her luck in comedy with the movie Housefull, which paid off well for the actor.

The actor's career trajectory then took a dip in the years 2010 and 2011 as she starred in movies that didn't fare well with the audience. She appeared in the movie Lafangey Parindey, Break Ke Baad, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, Aarakshan, and Desi Boyz. These movies did not perform well or impress the audience much. Her next movies included Race 2 and Cocktail, which were both well-appreciated by the audience.

Deepika's breakthrough came with the 2013 release Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The movie was a blockbuster hit, in which she starred with Ranbir Kapoor. The actor then starred in two hits after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. She starred with Shah Rukh Khan again in Chennai Express in 2013. Her role Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela started her journey in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's films.

Deepika Padukone starred in two movies in the year 2014, Finding Fanny and Happy New Year. While Finding Fanny went to be a flop, Happy New Year became a super hit at the box office. The year 2015 was successful for the star as she appeared in three successful movies: Piku, Tamasha and Bajirao Mastani. Deepika's last movie was Padmaavat in 2018. The movie faced many troubles due to its historical significance but went on to impress the audience and critics.

Deepika has two upcoming movies in her kitty. The actor will be seen in '83, which is based on the 1983 ICC World Cup victory of the Indian Cricket Team. She is also a part of another biopic Chhapaak, which is the story of Malti, an acid attack survivor. While Chhapaak will be releasing on January 10, 2020, '83 will hit the theatres on April 10, 2020.
