As Durga Puja was celebrated with fanfare across the country, Rani Mukerji, Jaya Bachchan, Ayan Mukerji, Anurag Basu, Imtiaz Ali basked in the festive spirit.
The nation is basking in the fervour of Navratri and Durga Puja, one of the major festivals celebrated in India. While the Garba and Dandiya, participated enthusiastically by the Gujarati community mainly, are a common sight for nine nights in a row, Bengalis seek blessings of Goddess Durga during this festive period. Bengali stars are often spotted at the ‘pandals’ in their graceful attires during the festival, and it wasn’t different this time. Jaya Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Ayan Mukerji, Anurag Basu and Imtiaz Ali participated in the rituals in Mumbai on Saturday.
Festive fervour
The Mukerji family were spotted at a pandal in the city, and all eyes were naturally on Rani Mukerji, as she is not known to be spotted regularly by the paparazzi. The actor looked stunning in a white saree.
She was also seen talking with her cousin Ayan Mukerji. The best part was when Rani was touching his face, he was looking irritated, like younger siblings often do.
Rani was also seen serving sweets at the ‘bhog’.
On the professional front, Rani is currently gearing up for the release of Mardaani 2, that is hitting theatres on December 13.
Jaya Bachchan, who is also a Bengali, too was dressed in a saree as she was welcomed by Ayan and his father Deb Mukherjee at the venue.
Rani and Ayan’s cousin Sharbani Mukherjee, who has acted in films like Border, was seen at the pandal.
It was also a sight when three of the best filmmakers of the country, came together, with Imtiaz Ali, Anurag Basu and Ayan coming together for a photograph.
While Imtiaz is currently filming a romantic film with Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan in the lead, Anurag is shooting for a multistarrer featuring Abhishek Bachchan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Rajkummar Rao and Aditya Roy Kapur. Ayan is busy with the VFX of the much-anticipated Brahmastra starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan.
A day before, Rani’s second cousin Kajol had also stepped out for Darshan, along with her sister Tanishaa and mother, veteran actor Tanuja at a pandal in Juhu.
Sharing the snaps on Instagram, Kajol had written, “First day of the pujas ... shoshti. Before we share it with everybody else ..”
