Shabana Azmi
Every time there is a list made of great actors in India, Shabana Azmi’s name always pops up. Shabana Azmi is a five-time National Award winner. Along with movies, she is equally famous for her on-stage performances. She has acted in iconic plays, such as Tumhari Amrita, Safed Kundali, and A Doll’s House.
Naseeruddin Shah
Naseeruddin Shah is considered to be one of the most adored actors in the country. Initially, the actor polished his acting talents on the stage. In 1977, Naseeruddin formed a theatre group with fellow actors Tom Alter and Benjamin Gilani. Their theatre group was titled Motley Productions. The first play by them was Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot.
Anupam Kher
Anupam Kher has had many acclaimed roles in both India and abroad. Reportedly, every time he feels the need to test his skills as an actor, he turns to the stage. His play, Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai is based on his own life. The play has seen countless screenings over the last decade. Anupam Kher is said to be amongst one of the very few humble actors in the industry.
Paresh Rawal
Paresh Rawal reportedly studied at the Narsee Monjee College. As a student, Paresh Rawal used to act in plays in many different languages. The actor then started doing regular plays at the Prithvi Theatre. Some of his famous plays are Dear Father, Krishan vs Kanhaiya, and Khelaiya.
Ratna Pathak
Ratna Pathak is the daughter of actress Dina Pathak. Ratna stepped into the world of theatre and seemed to enjoy it immensely. In her very second play, she was seen sharing the stage with Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri. Today, Ratna Pathak is an extremely critically appreciated actor in Bollywood.
