Bollywood has had many legendary actors and actresses over the years. Tabu is undoubtedly one of them. From her mesmerising beauty to her mind-blowing on-screen performances, Tabu is the perfect package that has graced B-Town. Now, as the veteran actress turns a year older, here is a look at some of her best performances so far which acts as a fitting tribute.

AndhaDhun

The Sriram Raghavan directorial was a masterpiece in and of itself, made even better by performances of Ayushmann Khurrana and Tabu. While Ayushmann is a real talent, it was the veteran actress' portrayal of the foxy, scheming and dangerous housewife that added a whole new dimension to the film. Be it any role,Tabu can effortlessly slip into it like a chameleon.

Haider

Once again, 'Haider' was mostly a Shahid Kapoor show, but it was his scenes with Tabu that were the biggest highlights of the film. The actress was simply brilliant as a recently widowed housewife who is torn between finding happiness again without tarnishing the memories of her former husband. Of course, her deteriorating relationship with her adult son adds further complications which eventually lead to her making some very rash decisions and Tabu portrayed all of this with intricacy and perfection.

Drishyam

'Drishyam' was a thrilling ride that it was only because it had Tabu to match Ajay Devgn in every frame, making their on-screen encounter a delight to watch. The Thespian was simply delectable as Inspector General Meera Deshmukh and a mother who will stop at nothing to make sure that her son's murderers are not spared. Her ruthless portrayal of the character really stood out throughout the movie, making it one of her best performances.

Maachis

This list will of course not be complete without 'Maachis'. While the 1996 film was a critic's delight, it was Tabu's performance as a Punjabi woman named Veeran that was the real icing on the cake. Her stellar performance did not go unnoticed as she went to win the National Award for Best Actress for her role in the movie.

Chandni Bar

Another classic film from her career that really gave her all the name and fame, 'Chandi Bar' saw the actress delivering the performance of a lifetime. Her portrayal as the bold and beautiful Mumtaz was unlike anything, anyone had ever seen before in Bollywood. This crown jewel of a film went on to win four National Awards and several other accolades and it would have not been possible without the veteran actress.

Cheeni Kum

For those who thought Tabu is best suited for very serious and dark movies, this film is a great way to break that stereotype. 'Cheeni Kum' saw her exploring the lighter side of cinema as she played Nina, a woman who falls in love with Buddhadev, a man who is elder to her by 30 years, played by Amitabh Bachchan. You know you are truly exceptional if people praise you in the same breath as Big B, and people did just that after seeing her in 'Cheeni Kum'.

Maqbool

Not every character requires a lot of lines or overt expressions. Sometimes for a film to work, actors have to downplay certain characters to keep the story alive and real. The Thespian did just that in 'Maqbool', as she played the enigmatic mistress of a gangster. Even though it was not a very mainstream film, her acting prowess was very much appreciated.
