Hema Malini performs dazzling Ganga ballet, expresses a strong message

The term ‘Dream Girl’ has got a new definition with Ayushmann Khurrana’s movie creating a storm at the box office. But there can be only one original ‘Dream Girl’, the term that was epitomised by Hema Malini. Even four decades after then co-star and now husband Dharmendra had sung the iconic lines for her, the tag has stayed with her. Hema Malini continues to mesmerise with her grace even today. The actor-politician vowed the audiences with her dance while also sending an environmental message of water pollution with her ballet on Ganga.

Strong message

Hema Malini shared dazzling pictures of her ballet performance on Twitter. The theme of the act displayed how River Ganga had got polluted over the years. During the act, she is first dressed in a shiny white saree with the crown, or in other words, the Swach Ganga, before donning a stained attire to depict its current situation of the 'Maile Ganga.'

Hema Malini captioned the photos, “Some fotos from the ballet Ganga. Swachch Ganga as she was when she first descended to earth followed by Maile Ganga which she becomes because of public misuse & apathy.” 

The Ganga ballet was inaugurated this year and Hema Malini had also performed in Pune last month.  She had then informed, “I’m in Pune today to perform at the prestigious Ganesh festival. Performing for this festival has become a ritual for me & I try to present somethg new every year. So ths year it is going to be Ganga- my latest ballet inaugurated earlier this year. "

Not just the Ganga ballet, Hema Malini had also performed at the Radha Raman temple in Vrindavan last month, sharing photos and videos from the event. “Presenting here photos of my dance performane at the Radharaman temple last night. Loved dancing for the Lord - such a heavenly, divine experience,” she had then tweeted. 

For the unversed, apart from her acting and political endeavours, Hema Malini is a trained dancer and has performed dance forms like Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi. Her daughters Esha and Ahana Deol have also trained in Odissi; the trio have also performed together.

Professional front

Hema Malini was re-elected as the Member of Parliament from Mathura Lok Sabha constituency in the recently-held elections. Since her entry into politics, Hema Malini has not been seen in many films, the last notable ones being ‘Aarakashan’ and 'Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap' in 2011.
