Jetting off on your honeymoon the night of your wedding is a romantic notion that has become a bit unrealistic in modern times. But nowadays more couples are opting for “mini-moons” which is shorter post-wedding trips over traditional honeymoons. Mini-moons also gives couples who invested their own funds into their wedding a bit more time to save up for that once-in-a-lifetime getaway. There are plenty of reasons to choose one over the other.
Pros and cons of both mini-moons and honeymoons
Pros of taking a Mini-moons
You will spend less money while taking a short, close-to-home trip. It will cost you way less than a tropical getaway. A mini-moon can be as short as you want it to be. If you choose a minimoon after the wedding, you give yourselves the opportunity to save up again for a full-blown honeymoon. Also by taking a mini-moon first, you get to enjoy the feeling of newly-wedded bliss for longer.
Cons of taking a Mini-moon
However, there are some cons also if you choose mini-moons because travelling for just a few days narrows down the options for where to go. Hence, you might end up visiting a city or town you’ve been to before.
Pros of taking Honeymoon
A proper honeymoon allows for more time to spend together as a married couple. During this period, there is more time to reflect and bond over the recent union. There are more opportunities to have romantic dinners, nighttime walks, or whatever feels special to you.
Cons of taking a Honeymoon
It can be a downfall for those who feel overwhelmed by travel or trip planning. Looking out for nice hotel rooms and rental cars can stretch your budget, which might make you feel uncomfortable. Also, if you are constantly in thoughts of the office work on your honeymoon, it won't be a relaxing getaway.
There are obvious benefits and downsides to both options, but which is a better fit for you is a real thing that you needed. Try not to get too caught up in the details and remember this is far more than your normal vacation. After all, it is a time to celebrate the start of your marriage life.
