Housefull 4 is Rana Dagubatti's first comedy film in Bollywood
Housefull 4 to cast Rana Daggubati in the lead cast, alongside Akshay Kumar. Read more to know what the Baahubali actor had to say about his first comedy film
Rana Daggubati is thrilled with all the affection the actor has been receiving following ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion'. After a film so intense, Rana Daggubati will be seen in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 4, the fourth installment of the Housefull franchise. The actor replaced Nana Patekar following the allegations of sexual assault raised by actress Tanushree Dutta.
The actor who has been a part of diverse film projects in his 9-year-long career, however, comedy has still remained a virgin territory. When asked about doing Housefull 4 in an interview, Rana said "Forget a comedy ensemble film; I have never even done a comedy movie. Nobody asks me to be a part of such films. I don't know what image they have of me. So, when I got a call for Housefull 4, and Sajid Nadiadwala and Farhad Samji came down to Hyderabad to narrate the story, I was very interested. The story is so funny that I wanted to be a part of it," he said, adding that he was happy to share screen space with Akshay Kumar.
Star-cast of the film
Alongside Rana Dagubatti, Akshay Kumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Zoha Rahman, Kriti Sanon, Pooja Hegde, Kriti Kharbanda, Chunky Pandey, Akash Dabhade, Riteish Deshmukh, Boman Irani, Bobby Deol, Johnny Lever, and Mervi Koski are also a part of the lead cast in Housefull 4.
When asked if he minds being a part of a multi-starrer, the Baahubali actor said “I never had any issues doing ensemble films and nor has any such thought ever crossed my mind. For me, it's fun to work with actors such as Akshay Kumar. I also worked with Balakrishna (NTR Mahanayakudu) in my last film," he said.
He added, "They are actors who have done different films, roles, and over the years have taken decisions that have changed their careers. And when you share the screen and time with them, you acquire a lot of knowledge."
About Rana Daggubati
Rana began his mainstream film career as the producer of the National Award-winning film Bommalata (2004). In 2005, he set up ‘Spirit Media’, a company that specialised in VFX and animation. He thus went on work on over 70 films as a VFX coordinator. In 2010, he marked his acting debut with the Telugu movie 'Leader', which established him as a bankable actor in the Telugu film industry. He then went on to foray into Hindi cinema, or the popular Bollywood, with Dum Maaro Dum. He subsequently acted in several Telugu and Hindi films, before his role as the lead antagonist in the 2015 film, Baahubali: The Beginning, catapulted him to new heights of stardom. The sequel, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, became the first Indian film to hit the 1000-crore mark in box office collections. Actor, producer and entrepreneur, Rana Daggubati enjoys a very unique fandom from across the world.
Housefull 4 is a comedy-drama, directed by Fahad Samji. The movie is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Nadiadwala claimed that the film will be the highest budgeted Indian comedy film. The movie is hitting the theatres on 26 October 2019.
