Irrfan Khan's throwback photo goes viral on his 57th birth anniversary
Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer in early 2018 at the peak of his career. He passed away nearly 2 years later, in April 2020.

January 7 marks the birth anniversary of late actor Irrfan. The Lunchbox actor who passed away in April 2020, left behind a legacy of great movies and performances, which is now taken forward by his son Babil who joined the film industry last year. Babil Khan made his debut with the Triptii Dimri starrer Qala, where his performance as a young musical prodigy received a lot of praises. Today, Babil shared a throwback photo of his father which is now going viral.

In the said post, Babil added a quirky, funny caption, informing his followers that Irrfan would often forget his own birthday. The Qala actor penned, “Celebrating a man who always forgot his own birthday @irrfan (red heart emoji)."
Babil had reshared the photo from another post by filmmaker Anup Singh who had posted the said throwback photo on his wall originally. Anup Singh had directed Irrfan in 2 films - Qissa and The Song of Scorpions. The photo dates back to January 2017 when Irrfan celebrated his birthday on the sets of The Song of Scorpions.
Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer in early 2018 at the peak of his career, followed by him going to the UK for medical treatment. The actor returned to India only the following year. Irrfan passed away on April 29, 2020 after being admitted to the hospital due to a colon infection issue, leaving behind Sutapa, his wife of over 30 years and their only son Babil.
Irrfan’s last film released posthumously
Irrfan’s least film release before his unfortunate demise was the comedy Angreji Medium, where Irrfan shared screenspace with Kareena Kapoor. However, another of his movies Song Of The Scorpions released posthumously around 2 years later.
Meanwhile, Babil Khan had a very good year with his work in Netflix series The Railway Men receiving great reviews from both critics and audience. The young actor also headlined an OTT movie titled Friday Night Plan, where he co-starred with Juhi Chawla.
