Kangana Ranaut Starrer Emergency Locks Release Date, To Hit The Theatres In September
Kangana Ranaut starrer Emergency is based on true events that unfolded in 1975 during the leadership of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Kangana Ranaut is currently basking in the success of her recent win in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. She contested from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency and won the seat defeating her main opponent Vikramaditya Singh. The actress had postponed the release of Emergency to focus on her political campaigns. However, now it seems the actress is again focusing on her acting career. On Tuesday morning, the actress announced the release date of her long-pending movie Emergency.
When will Emergency hit the theatres?
Initially, the movie was slated to release last year around October-November, but the makers pushed the release to June 14, 2024. Now, the actress has shared a new poster and announced that the movie will hit the theatres on September 6. In the movie, she will play the titular role of former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. In the poster, she looks unrecognisable as Indira Gandhi, sporting her short salt n pepper hair, cotton saree and specs.

Helmed by Kangana Ranaut, the movie is being bankrolled by the actress herself under the banner Manikarnika Films. Apart from Kangana, the movie also stars Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Mahima Chaudhry as Pupul Jayakar, Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw and Satish Kaushik as Jagjivan Ram. The movie is based on true events that unfolded in 1975. It chronicles the incidents that took place under the leadership of Indira Gandhi, one of the most powerful women in Indian history.
