Everybody knows Katrina Kaif, but does everybody know everything about her? She indeed has British citizenship but that is not the end of the story. She had a wholly different life before Bollywood happened to her. For all Katrina Kaif fans, here are some lesser-known facts about the actor.

Early Life of Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif was born in Hong Kong to a Kashmiri father, Mohammed Kaif and British mother, Suzanne Turquotte. Mohammed is a British businessman while Suzanne is an English lawyer and charity worker. Katrina’s birth name is Katrina Turquotte which she changed to ‘Kaif’ for easier pronunciation among the Indian audiences. She has six sisters and one elder brother. Her younger sister, Isabel Kaif is also a model and aspiring actor.
She moved to France when she was eight years old. She has lived at many places after that including Switzerland, Poland, Hawaii followed by London. Katrina and her siblings never went to school because of frequent relocating. They were home-schooled by private tutors. Having moved so much, Katrina never had the problem of 'culture shock'. She chanced upon modelling at the tender age of 14 when she was approached for a jewellery campaign in Hawaii. She continued modelling after coming to London.

Katrina Kaif made her Bollywood debut with the 2003 release Boom which tanked at the box office. She then sought the advice of Salman Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala and David Dhawan. But her struggle had begun in 2000 when she arrived in Mumbai. A photographer, Farrokh Chothia, acquainted her with the right modelling agencies. After her portfolio was made by ace photographer, Daboo Ratnani, modelling assignments began to come her way. Slowly Katrina edged into acting and confirms in an interview with a leading portal, that being bored of modelling Katrina had turned to Bollywood. She was clueless about acting when she worked in the 2003 release, Boom.
In 2004 Katrina Kaif starred in the Telugu blockbuster Malliswari paired opposite South superstar Venkatesh. Then she came to Mumbai and had to struggle. Katrina hired a Hindi tutor and also took Kathak lessons from the guru who also taught Priyanka Chopra. She had starred in a few more South films like Allari Piduguand Balram vs. Taradas. After a few failed attempts in Bollywood, she finally found success in Vipul Saha’s Namastey London in 2007 paired opposite Akshay Kumar. Since then she has delivered some blockbuster movies like Rajneeti, Ek Tha Tiger, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Bharat and many more.
