Karan Johar evidently redefined the romance genre in the Hindi film industry with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The film released on October 16, 1998, and has completed 21 years since it initially released. The hit on-screen pair of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol were seen in the film romancing each other. Karan Johar's directorial debut was a blockbuster hit at the box-office. The film evidently carved a path for Karan Johar as a director before becoming the successful producer he is now. Here are five iconic dialogues from the film which fans love!

"Main ladkiyon ke peeche nahi bhaagta … ladkiya mere peeche bhaagti hai"

The film begins with Shah Rukh Khan's character Rahul being a flamboyant college student. Kajol plays Rahul's best friend Anjali in the film. When confronted about chasing women by Anjali, Rahul replies with this iconic line. This dialogue evidently became a fan-favourite as Shah Rukh Khan charmed his way into playing Rahul.

"Rahul is a cheater, he is a cheater, CHEATER!"

Anjali and Rahul's characters are seen playing basketball in some portions of the film. Anjali easily takes over Rahul most of the times, leaving Rahul to be a sour loser. But, Rahul playfully denies his loss and in return tries to win the match. This playful banter between the two characters was reportedly adored by fans.

"Hum ek baar jeete hai, ek baar marte hai, shaadi bhi ek baar hoti hai ... aur pyar ek baar hi hota hai"

Rahul's character is seen portraying the role of a casanova in the initial portions of the film. His story arc revolves around him acting like a careless person but being down to earth and humble inside. Rahul evidently has strong views about love and friendship in the film. This iconic dialogue sums up Rahul's thoughts very well.

"Tussi ja rahe ho? … tussi na jao"

Some major portions of the second half of the film revolve around a summer camp attended by Anjali as a supervisor. When things start to tense up between Rahul and Anjali's character meeting after years, she decides to leave the summer camp and go back to the city. A small kid who stays silent throughout the film speaks up at this moment. The kid begs Anjali to not leave by saying this iconic dialogue.

"Kuch kuch hota hai Rahul, tum nahi samjhoge"

This dialogue is spoken at a very crucial point in the film. When Anjali's character is leaving the summer camp she says these lines before walking away from Rahul. Anjali subtly accepts her love for Rahul before walking away from him in the film. Rahul is then seen repeating the same line but with Anjali's name and a teary eye when she leaves him.
