"Madhu And I Have Today Decided To Go On A Trial Separation In Our Marriage", Says Masaba Gupta

Designer Masaba Gupta took to social media on Saturday, August 25, to announce that she and her husband Madhu Mantena have decided to go on a “trial separation”. Indian actress Neena Gupta and former West Indian cricketer Viv Richards’ daughter Masaba Gupta, in her most recent Instagram post, said, “Madhu and I have today decided to go on a trial separation in our marriage”. In a joint statement, the duo further went on to add that they have come to this decision after consulting professionals and their parents. Masaba's post read, “The only thing we are ready to say right now is, 'what we both want out of life individually and separately is putting unnecessary pressure on the marriage and the love that we share. Hence we would take time off from each other and our marriage to figure out for ourselves what we want out of this life'."

Masaba Gupta and Madhu Mantena requested for privacy in a joint statement saying, “We also want to say that this is a tough time for us and we want to really protect our privacy at this time. We still hope to find reconciliation in our individual paths and dreams and hence this privacy is important for us now."

The duo added, "We are not strong enough to explain ourselves to even friends who deserve an answer from us.... All we can say to them is to give us time and to give us love when we reach out to you.” Masaba’s post was soon flooded with comments from her well-wishers, friends, and acquaintances from the industry. Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Sagarika Ghatge among others sent out heartfelt messages to the designer.

Besides projects under the Phantom Films’ banner, Madhu Mantena has also produced films like ‘and 'High Jack' 'Rann' and 'Rakht Charitra' to name a few. Mantena also founded Phantom Films along with Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl which later went on to produce films like 'Udta Punjab', 'Queen', and 'Lootera' to name a few. While Masaba Gupta is a noted fashion designer and the owner of House Of Masaba. The couple tied the knot in 2015.
