Makar Sankranti is the kite flying festival in India. The festival pays tribute to the sun god Surya. During the festival, the Hindus celebrate by making sweets made from Sesame seeds and by flying kites. Bollywood too has picked up on the beauty of the festival as many movies show the actors flying kites.
