Manju Warrier files complaint against filmmaker Shivkumar Menon

Film actor Manju Warrier has lodged a complaint along with the DGP of Kerala, Loknath Behera, against filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon who had directed the movie ‘Odiyan’.

Manju Warrier, in her complaint, had mentioned that Shrikumar Menon attempted to defame her through various organised campaigns that he held on social media. He allegedly threatened Manju Warrier’s friends as well. Manju Warrier reportedly now fears for her life because of these threats.

Reports have claimed that Manju Warrier herself visited the DGP’s office in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and handed a handwritten complaint to the police officer. She mentioned in her complaint that the letter pads in the name of 'Manju Warrier Foundation' and blank cheques she had signed are being misused by VA Shrikumar Menon. She reported that he has been withdrawing money from her savings. She even submitted a digital complaint incase the written one is misused.

On the work front, Manju Warrier and Shivkumar Menon have worked together several times. Shivkumar Menon owns an advertising agency Push Integrated Communications and has directed Manju Warrier in many advertising campaigns like Kalyan Jewellers. The duo has even done a film together. According to media reports, Push Integrated Communications also oversaw the activities of Manju Warrier's foundation.

Manju Warrier has also mentioned the name of a journalist in her complaint. She has written that Mathew Samuel, a former Managing Editor of Tehelka magazine and the editor of the digital portal Naradnews, wrote stories against her as told by Shivkumar Menon. Manju said that she was a victim of cyber-attack after the release of Odiyan. She somehow overcame it but Shivkumar Menon has started troubling her again. After the movie, Odiyan was released worldwide. However, in December 2018, there was an organised social media troll campaign and Manju Warrier became a victim of it.

Odiyan was Shrikumar Menon’s feature film debut and he enjoyed massive promotions before the film's release. However, when the movie did not receive a good review, Shrikumar Menon had squarely placed the blame on Manju for the film failing at the box office. He accused her of carrying bad luck from her previous life and that affected the film pretty bad.
