Manu Bhaker has made the country proud by winning the first medal at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. She made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic in shooting. Several celebrities took to their social media to extend their congratulations to the athlete.
Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kangana Ranaut congratulate Manu Bhaker
The Indian film industry has erupted in celebration as ace shooter Manu Bhaker clinched a bronze medal in the Women's 10-metre Air Pistol final at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Sunday. Bhaker's achievement is historic, marking the first time an Indian woman has won an Olympic medal in shooting. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Kareena Kapoor Khan congratulated Bhaker by writing, "First win is home! Congratulations @bhakermanu, you've made all of us sooo proud!."
Veteran actor Jackie Shroff also lauded Bhaker's Olympics win. "Account opened.. Manu Bhaker wins Bronze in 10 mt air pistol event, India's first medal in Paris Olympics," he wrote on his Instagram story. Kangana Ranaut also shared a congratulatory message for Bhaker as she wrote, "India's first medal #ManuBhaker Ye Hindu betiyaan," adding India's flag and flower emoticons.

Rajkummar Rao took to his Instagram story and wrote, "@bhakermanu We all are so proud of you." Preity Zinta shared Manu Bhaker’s photo and wrote, “Congratulations @bhakermanu on winning the first medal for India in #olympics2024 #bronzemedal #shooting #parisolympics #JaiHind #ting.”
Kriti Kharbanda also shared the news snippet of Manu Bhaker winning bronze and expressed her happiness with the caption “Oh yeahhhh.” Jackie Shroff commented on the success and wrote “Account opened…Manu Bhaker wins Bronze in 10 mt air pistol event. India’s first medal in Paris Olympics.” Other stars including Suniel Shetty, Sidharth Malhotra, and Shilpa Shetty also congratulated Manu Bhaker for her historic win.
The last time India won medals in shooting was at the London Olympics in 2012. Rapid-fire pistol shooter Vijay Kumar won silver and Gangan Narang won bronze. In the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Manu Bhaker was disqualified due to a pistol malfunction but her hard work and determination paid off with her winning a bronze in Paris. Manu Bhaker became India’s first women's shooter to win an Olympic medal.
