Mimi Chakraborty began her career in the film industry in 2012. She was a popular television and theatre actor before she debuted in Tollywood. Her debut movie was Bapi Bari Jaa, a Bengali movie which released in 2012. She has done more than 15 movies after her debut before she moved her career to politics. Mimi Chakraborty’s first movie Bapi Bari Jaa released in 2012 and she worked for many films soon after. After that, she did films like Kore Toke Bolbo, Kelor Kirti, Gangster, Posto, Dhananjoy, Total Dadagiri, Crisscross and Villian, over the years in Tollywood. Mimi Chakraborty even won three awards for some of her notable works in the industry.

Mimi Chakraborty has also been a part of the fashion industry, she was a part of Fame Fashion and Creative Excellence (FFACE) in 2014. She unveiled the Edition 1 of the FFACE calendar in Kolkata. In the same year, 2014, Mimi Chakraborty was a part of the conceptual greeting card produced by FFACE as the FFACE of DURGA which promotes women empowerment.

After the release of her recent film, Villian she moved her career from acting to politics. She joined the Trinamool Congress in 2019 and contested from Jadavpur Loksabha Constituency in the Indian general election, 2019. Mimi Chakraborty won the elections and became a member of the parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha from Jadavpur constituency, Kolkata.

Mimi Chakraborty has joined politics but reports claim that the actor will be still doing films. Her upcoming project is Khela Jakhon. She will start shooting for this film from January. It is also reported that the actor will be cast opposite Abir Chatterjee in his Dhrubo Banerjee’s next thriller.
