Munjya Box Office Weekend Collection: Sharvari-Abhay Starrer Is Unstoppable At ₹20.04 Crore

In the opening weekend collection, Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Verma starrer Munjya has inched closer to ₹20 crore club.

Munjya performed well on its first two days at the domestic box office. In just two days, Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Verma starrer crossed ₹10 crore mark in India, showing over 75 per cent growth on the second day. The upward trend in the daily collection continued even on the third day. In the opening weekend collection, the movie has inched closer to ₹20 crore club.

Helmed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the supernatural horror comedy minted ₹8.43 crores, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Munjya had an overall 36.64 per cent Hindi occupancy on Sunday, with the maximum reported in Chennai (81 per cent). Adding the third-day collection, the movie earned ₹20.04 crore in its opening weekend.

The movie opened at ₹4.21 crore, following a major spike in daily collection on the second day - ₹7.40 crore. However, the real test for Munjya is Monday, the first weekday, of collection. If the movie passes the trend then, it might enter ₹30 crore club in the first week.

What else do we know about Munjya?

The movie follows the story of the eponymous mythical creature and how he wreaks havoc in the life of Bittu (played by Abhay). The plot revolves around Bittu, who visits his native village and learns a family secret about a vengeful spirit, Munjya, who wants to get married. Now, the young man must fight to protect himself and his love from Munjya's clutches, leading to a humorously chaotic and terrifying adventure.

On witnessing the great start, Sharvari expressed her gratitude and told ANI, "I'm thrilled to see the outstanding start that Munjya has received at the box office. It is a film that pushed me to do something remarkably different so early on in my career, and I have to thank my producer, Dinesh Vijan, and my director, Aditya Sarpotdar, for his belief in me to pull off this role.”
