Rashmi Rocket is not inspired by any real-life athlete. The film is purely a fictional story of a runner, Rashmi. Taapsee will be portraying her in the movie. Rashmi Rocket is directed by Karwaan director Akarsh Khurana and bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvalla’s RSVP Movies along with Neha Anand and Pranjal Khandhdiya.
According to sources, Rashmi Rocket is the story of a girl who hails from Kutch, Gujarat. She eventually lands up in international stadiums where she represents her country as a runner. The 'rocket' in the character's name refers to her speed of running. The movie's production is yet to start.
Taapsee's look in the movie
In the teaser, Taapsee looks completely different. She has been given a rusty look. Taapsee can be seen with heavy bold Kohl in her eyes, wearing Indian traditional maroon Kurti and trousers. She is also wearing silver junk jewellery. Taapsee's character Rashmi has traditional tattoos on her neck and fingers.
On being asked what made her choose this film, in her recent interview with a news portal, Taapsee stated that the story instantly hit the right chord with her when she heard of the concept. It felt like the perfect fit for her. She also observed that while she has had to run in every other genre that she has been a part of, this would be her first out-and-out athlete’s tale. The human angle in the movie made it even more appealing to her. While the shooting of the film will be commencing this year itself, the release date of Rashmi Rocket is not yet finalised. As of now, Taapsee is prepared for her upcoming release Saand Ki Aankh, alongside Bhumi Pednekar which will be releasing on October 25, 2019.
