Pankaj Tripathi joins the cast of Ranveer Singh's '83'
Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi has joined the cast of the upcoming sports drama '83'. As per media reports, the actor will be playing the role of former team India manager PR Man Singh in the upcoming venture.

As per media reports, the actor will be playing the role of former team India manager PR Man Singh in the upcoming venture. The 'Mirzapur' actor took to Twitter and confirmed the news and talking about the film in a recent post, he said, "83.. sirph Sankhya nahee, Cricket yuva josh, desh aur tirange ke jazbe ko salaamee hai."

He also retweeted another post of '83 the film' which confirmed, "The man behind the champions, #ManSingh, will be played by Actor Extraordinaire @TripathiiPankaj. #CastOf83 @RanveerOfficial @kabirkhankk @RelianceEnt #MadhuMantena @vishinduri #Relive83". The film that is based on India's historical 1983 Cricket World Cup Win against England at the Lord's stadium, will see Ranveer play the role of the then Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev. The sports drama, to be directed by Kabir Khan, will chronicle India's win under Kapil's captainship when the Men in Blue defeated West Indies in the final to clinch their first-ever World Cup trophy in 1983.
As per media reports, Pankaj Tripathi got emotional after reading the script of the film. PTI quoted Pankaj as saying, "It was an emotional ride for me while going through the script. At some of the places, I was in tears. I am really inspired by the whole journey of Kapil Dev. From when I heard the script, I was certain that I wanted to be a part of this film,"

"He was always in my wish list of directors to work with someday and also Ranveer Singh is one of the factors that I chose to sign the film," he added.
Reportedly, he actor, further stated that he is a great admirer of Kabir's work, including his early documentary films.
According to reports, director Kabir Khan who is helming the project has confirmed that the shoot for the film will begin from May and will continue till August. Most of this shoot will take place in London as the 1983 cricket world cup was held in England. He has also added that parts of the film will also be shot in India.
