Pankaj Tripathi-Mridula's Love Story: How Handkerchief Played A Major Role
Pankaj Tripathi's wife Mridula recalls meeting the actor for the first time during her brother's wedding. She was in 9th standard while he was in 11th.
Pankaj Tripathi 's wife Mridula, in a recent interview, opened up about her and the actor's relationship. She recalled how their families accepted their relationship and got them married in 2004. She also narrated how the handkerchief played a cupid in their romance.

In a chat with Atul Taishete, Mridula recalled how they met during their sibling's wedding. (Mridula's brother is married to Pankaj's sister). She correctly recalled the date when she first saw Pankaj and said they first met on May 23, 1993, during a pre-wedding ceremony, Tilak. "Before that, we had gotten photographs. It was for my brother's wedding. A girl's picture had come. Her two brothers and parents were in the picture. That had come when I was in ninth and he was in eleventh," she added.
Mridula added she took the picture to school to show her friends. They saw her bhabhi but also saw two brothers in the photo. While the elder brother of Pankaj was married with two kids, Mridula's friends focused on the younger brother (Pankaj) and teased her that both would look good together.
How handkerchief play a major role in Pankaj Tripathi -Mridula's love story?
Mridula further recalled how the two exchanged glances during the tilak ceremony. Their first conversation started during the ceremony when Mridula was standing with a handkerchief while Pankaj washed his hands. She handed the handkerchief to Pankaj, and while handling their hands touched each other leaving Mridula with butterflies in her stomach. "I still tell Pankaj that I saw you when you had just started getting a beard, and now, I am seeing you when you have got glasses. It has been a long journey," she added.
Mridula further shared how her mother used to always ask her to call Pankaj "Bhaiya" (brother) but since she used to like him so she always addressed him as "Pankaj Ji". Now, she addresses the actor as "Pati". "Till date I call him pati. When he would come to Calcutta (Kolkata) in 6 months or a year he would purposely touch my foot. He is very naughty. A small love story that began in 1993 we completed in 2004 by getting married," Mridula concluded.
Pankaj and Mridula got married in 2004 and welcomed their daughter Aashi Tripathi in 2006.
