Trapped (2016)
As per the reports, Rajkummar lost 10 kilos in a month for the film. The film was shot in just 20 days and still, it turned out to be a big hit on the big screen according to box office pundits. The movie revolves around the call centre employee who gets trapped in his apartment with no food, water, clothes, electricity and mobile network. Rajkummar received Critics Award for Best Actor for this film.
Omerta (2017)
Rajkummar Rao played the role of Islamist militant Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. The film traced Omar’s journey from his life as a student to a radicalised militant who has links to the 9/11 attacks. The film travelled to many international film festivals. Rao impressively essays the character and never loses his command.
Newton (2017)
Rajkummar Rao’s film Newton was India’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 90th Academy Awards. Helmed by Amit Masurkar, the movie revolves around a young government clerk who is sent on an election day to Maoist-controlled town. The movie was shot in Chattisgarh and starred Pankaj Tripathi & Anjali Patil in the lead role. The movie earned massive success at the box-office.
Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017)
Helmed by Ratnaa Sinha, the film features Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda in the lead roles. Rao intensely played the role of a heartbroken IAS officer who is determined to prove is worth. The film is quite straight forward and the plot was simply uncomplicated. Overall, the film was a simple love story and is a treat to watch.
Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017)
Apart from the characters of Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon, Rajkummar Rao emerged as the X-factor of the film. The film was a melodrama of love triangle and it manages to grab audiences by the performances of respective characters. This movie was one of the most entertaining works of Rajkummar Rao. Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari the film promises to be a joy ride.
