Rani Mukherji spills the beans on her film Mardaani 2, calls it an 'expression of rage'

After charming the audience in the critically acclaimed film, Mardaani, Rani Mukherji is all set to reprise her role in the sequel of the film titled Mardaani  2. The film will see Rani once again stepping into the shoes of the feisty cop, Shivani Shivaji Roy and will see her lock horns with a menacing serial killer and rapist. According to media reports, the film is based on the real-life horrifying rape and murder case wherein four women were brutally raped and murdered at the Yamuna Expressway in the year 2017. The accused had reportedly punctured the tyre of their cars before the heinous crime.

Rani recently revealed that the film is her expression of rage against women

Reportedly, the film has taken inspiration from a terrifying incident. While the first instalment of the film saw the issue of human trafficking brought to light, the sequel of the film will deal with the gruesome act of rape against women. In a recent interview, Rani revealed that the film is an expression of her rage against crimes against women. The film is reportedly touted to spread awareness against anti-social elements in the society and some horrifying things, people are capable of doing. The actor further added that she feels women should feel empowered and the predators should feel scared.

The film is directed by Gopi Puthran

The film brings to light the vicious crimes against women but also highlights the grave issue of how crimes committed against juveniles are on the rise now. The trailer of the film has been well-received by the masses and also gives a glimpse of the actor's powerful performance. The film revolves around a dangerous psychopath who rapes and murders young women. The film will see Rani battle the antagonist and punish him for the committed crimes. The film is directed by Gopi Puthran.

Recently in an interview, Gopi revealed that Mardaani 2 is inspired by some real-life crime incidents because these gruesome incidents do manage to shock the masses when they read about it on the paper. He further revealed that his film is based on these hard-hitting real-life incidents. The film will be releasing on December 13, 2019.
