Ranveer Singh: His journey from Band Baaja Baaraat to Padmavaat

Ranveer Singh is a well-known face in the Hindi film industry. It has been nine years since Ranveer made his debut with Band Baaja Baarat. But with each of his films, the actor has proved his versatility. Whether it is playing the role of a Maratha warrior in Bajirao Mastani or a thief in Lootera, Ranveer has proved his excellence as an actor.
Ranveer Singh’s Bollywood journey
Ranveer Singh made his debut in the industry with the film Band Baaja Baaraat in the year 2010. The film featured Anushka Sharma opposite him. The film was a success and also marked Maneesh Sharma’s directorial debut. His second film Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl was a love story. His third film, Lootera, was even more experimental for him as he was playing the role of a thief. However, Ranveer managed to do it effortlessly.
Ranveer Singh was next seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyo Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela opposite Deepika Padukone for the first time. The movie was based on the ace director’s version of Romeo and Juliet. The actor received a nomination for the Filmfare Best Actor Award the following year. According to media reports, Ranveer has undergone a massive physical transformation for the film. In the year 2014, the actor was seen in Gunday which also starred Arjun Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan Khan. Although the film received mixed reviews, yet it was the highest grossing film in an opening weekend during that year.
In 2015, Ranveer was seen in Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadkne Do, which was a family drama and also starred Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah and Farhan Akhtar in the lead. The film received a big thumbs up and earned a total of Rs 143 crore. Later, he once again collaborated with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Bajirao Mastani which also starred Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in pivotal roles. The film was a huge box office success and earned Rs 250 crore. Ranveer also got the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for the film.
In 2016, Ranveer collaborated with Aditya Chopra for rom-com titled Befikre. But the film received very poor reviews and was a box office disaster. After a long break, Ranveer again teamed up with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Padmaavat. The film collected over Rs 300 crore at the box office. Lastly, he was seen in Zoya Akhtar’s directorial Gully Boy which also featured Alia Bhatt. The film is India’s official entry for the 2020 Oscars. Apart from this, the actor will be next seen in ’83 which is based on the real-life story of cricket legend Kapil Dev and is slated to release on April 10, 2020.
