Being in the film industry, a competition between the sisters was imperative. Ratna revealed how she and her sister braved through the time they were pitted against each other.

Ratna Pathak Shah talks about losing out on roles because of her looks
In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the cast of Dhak Dhak spoke about their struggles in the industry. Recalling the old times, Dia Mirza noted that she lost out on roles because she is too “good-looking”. Remarking on this, Ratna recalled the time when she was pitted against her sister, who she said was thought to be “better looking”.

The Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na actress shared, “My sister and I we were constantly compared and Supriya was definitely the much prettier one. I had funny teeth and was thin as a stick at that time.” She quipped that she had to learn how to act to compensate for her looks. She added, “I was lucky I never got caught up with the fact of having to look good. I thought I can’t look good so then I had to do something else now. So, I better know how to act kamse kam woh toh mujhe kaam dega (at least that’ll give me work).”

Road trip movie Dhak Dhak, starring Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ratna Pathak Shah, Dia Mirza and Sanjhana Sanghi, hit the screens on October 13. Backed by Viacom18 Studios and Taapsee Pannu’s Outsiders Films, the upcoming film is directed by Tarun Dudeja from a script co-written by Dudeja and Parijat Joshi. Dhak Dhak marks Taapsee’s second production venture after 2022’s Blurr, which was released online on Zee5.
