It is the 97th birth anniversary of late legendary actor Dev Anand who is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated actors in Bollywood. To mark the day, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor took to social media and paid tribute to his industry senior. On Thursday, September 26, he put out a couple of heartwarming post on Twitter hailing the legendary star. He said, "Salute to the evergreen star Dev Anand Sahab on his 97th Birthday. Never a style Icon and a young at heart like him."

Rishi Kapoor further shared an interesting anecdote and shared one of his encounters with the ace actor at a party just after the release of his 1973 film 'Bobby'. He said that Dev Anand had once expressed his desire to make a movie with him. "Just after Bobby’s release(1973), he told me at Stardust magazine’s party “We youngsters should do a film together” Such was his confidence. God Bless you, sir! " Rishi Kapoor wrote.

Dev Anand

Born in 1923 as DharamDev Pishorimal Anand, he was the third child of his parents. He came to Mumbai after graduating from Lahore. Dev Anand decided that he wanted to be a performer after he watched Ashok Kumar's performance in films such as 'Achhut Kanya' and 'Kismet'. 

Dev Anand was considered as one of the greatest and most successful actors in the Bollywood film industry. In a career spanning almost six decades, the actor has managed to create a mark on the industry with his roles in films like 'Guide,' 'Taxi Driver,' 'Jewel Thief' and 'CID'. He broke new grounds, playing a smuggler in 'Jaal,' absconding gang member in 'Dushman,' black marketeer in 'Kalabazaar' and a murderer in 'Bombay Ka Babu.'

While maintaining a dark image, Dev Anand even acquired a romantic persona with films like 'Manzil' and 'Tere Ghar Ke Samne' with Nutan, 'Kinaare Kinaare' with Meena Kumari, 'Maya' with Mala Sinha and many more. He is bestowed with several prestigious awards for his contribution to Indian cinema. He was a recipient of Dadasaheb Phalke Award which was conferred on him in 2002 and the Padma Bhushan. Dev Anand died in London at the age of 88 on December 3, 2011, due to cardiac arrest.

What's next for Rishi Kapoor

Rishi Kapoor who recently returned to the country after prolonged treatment in New York was last seen in the film, 'Jhootha Kahin Ka' on July 19. It was Rishi Kapoor's comeback to the big screens after 'Kapoor & sons', that released in 2017. Meanwhile, Rishi Kapoor also made his Netflix debut with the film, 'Rajma Chawal'.
