The Salim-Javed documentary, Angry Young Men is set to release on August 20 on Amazon Prime Video. The 3-part series tells the untold story of iconic screenwriters Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, who dominated 70s Bollywood with their blockbuster hits. The trailer has been launched today with the special reunion of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar after years.

This documentary will be their first collaboration since the 1987 film Mr India. It features many celebrities sharing their experiences working with Salim-Javed. During the trailer launch event, Javed Akhtar hinted at writing together with Salim after years.

Salim-Javed to write a new film after 4 decades

At the recent launch event, Javed Akhtar revealed that he and Salim will come together to write one final film. He also mentioned that in the past, they charged more than the biggest stars, and now their rates will be even higher.

Javed said, "Now, let me tell you that we are going to write now. I have spoken to him, ek aur picture likhte hai saath mein. Uss zamaane mein bhi humari price zyada thi, iss zamaane mein toh bahut hi zyada hogi, wo dekh lijiye aap (we are ready to write another film again. Back in the days, we quoted a high price. Today also we will charge a high price. So filmmakers, you decide)."

What will be the duo's next after Mr India?

Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar wrote 24 films together. Of these, 22 were blockbusters, including classics like Sholey, Don, Zanjeer, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Deewar, Haathi Mere Saathi, Seeta Aur Geeta and Trishul, to name a few.

Their collaboration helped Amitabh Bachchan gain the title of Angry Young Man in the 1970s and set a new trend for action films in Bollywood. Their final film together was Mr India, released in 1987, starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. The upcoming docu-series has reunited the iconic duo for a creative partnership. Their next move is highly awaited.
